Karen & Steve's 14-Day Tour
Europe Through The Back Door
- 2008 -
We had a day-long drive to Venice crossing the Alps and stopping at a variety of places along the way. For lunch we stopped
in the Italian town of Egna.
From there we continued on our way to Fusina where we left the bus and boarded a boat for
a 20 minute ride to Venice. With us came the rain.
Brushing up on our Italian on the bus.
The entrance of the Hotel Belle' Arti.
The courtyard of the Hotel Belle' Arti.
Our room key. Most of the hotel keys were unique every where we stayed.
After settling in at the hotel, our tour guide Dave led us on an orientation walk. Pouring rain wasn't going to stop any
of us from seeing Venice and having a good time.
After our orientation walk we were on our own for the remainder of the evening. We made our way with tour buddies
Joe and Terry to the Casin de Nobili, a restaurant recommended in the Rick Steves' travel book. We all agreed
that the restaurant was fantastic and a must-visit when in Venice.

Outside of the Casin de Nobili on a rainy evening. We love this picture because although the weather was not very
cooperative, the beauty of this colorful city, shined through the rain like sunlight at the end of a storm.
Our bus driver Lou was such a fantastic driver who made us feel comfortable and safe on our journey throughout Europe. Here
he's marking the route that we'd be taking through Italy.
A sampling of "real" italian pizza with a variety of toppings.
A quiet main street in Egna
The little municipality of Egna was the perfect stop for lunch before continuing on to Venice. Here we were treated to
an assortment of pizza with wine for lunch.
The boat ride from Fusina to Venice.
Once we docked, it was only a short
walk before we were at the hotel.
Tour buddies making life long memories
It was a good day to stay home - or to be in Venice.
