This was the final day of our tour. Why did it have to end? We were having the best times of our lives. Every day topped the day before and this day would be no exception. It started with a tour of Vatican City including the Vatican Museum, the Sistine Chapel and St. Peter's Basilica. Then it was a day on our own to savor every moment we had left to spend in Rome.
. . . gelato in every flavor and color imaginable.
The Trevi Fountan on our last evening in Roma.
The romance that comes with a Roman holiday.
Filled with displays of ancient statues and paintings from historic times through current times, the Vatican Museum was a breathtaking
wonderland of photo opportunities. We quickly realized that we could never capture the magnitude of what we were
seeing with our camera - the view with the naked eye was overwhelming.
Some halls are lined with tapestries, and another is covered with ancient maps while every room had a ceiling that was more
beautiful than the next.
The walk through the Vatican Museum eventually led us to the Sistine Chapel where unfortunately we couldn't take any pictures of the
ceiling created by Michelangelo. (A photo could never do it justice anyway.)
But upon exiting the Chapel and entering St. Peter's
Basilica, we were surprised with Michelangelo's Pieta. Incredible!
There's no way we can describe the beauty, scope and size of this place of worship; It has to be experienced to fully appreciate.
Once outside of the Basilica we walked to the center of St. Peter's Square. Looking back at St. Peter's Church it seemed
as though her massive arms were outstretched to embrace everyone in the square.

After the tour of the Vatican, we were our own until later in the evening when we'd meet up with our tour buddies at the hotel.
This was to be our last dinner together and our tour guide Dave promised us that we were in for a real treat.
Enjoying walking the busy and quaint streets of Rome.
From a local frutteria to the Spanish Steps, there was a feeling of romance in the air.
Dave kept his promise; We had a delicious dinner that evening at at a restaurant called Nana Vini e Cucina. Not
only did we have great food, but we also had the pleasure to watch it being prepared by the chefs.
As if our fabulous dinner wasn't enough, Dave gathered us together later on to another treat in store for us . . .
All good must come to an end.
And for us this was a wonderful ending.
