This is my Victorian living room. I bought Burgundy Rose wallpaper and couldn’t resist buying the pink Victorian furniture. The pictures
on the wall next to the entrance door date back to the late 1800’s and they are of my great grandparents from Italy. They died years
before I was born. I also added pictures of my grandparents and my parents which are hanging in the master bedroom. I thought that
3 generations of family pictures hanging in the Harbor Side Manor was a neat idea. Under the staircase is a china cabinet filled with
urns and dishes and a coat/hat tree to hang accessories on. The fireplace was painted gold and then Steve put a brown stain over it
and sanded it down to bring out the gold. I love the way the gold mirror looks above the fireplace. I bought candlesticks, clock and an
urn to put on the mantle. The fireplace lights up to give the look of a real fire. Our pet LuLu is sitting on the rug enjoying the fire.
The 1920’s Kitchen was the first
room I started decorating. The
wallpaper is a soft lattice with a
pale yellow and white background
with a touch of a salmon flower. I
bought an icebox, old fashioned
stove, sink and a Cupboard to fill.
On the top of the Cupboard is a
basket filled with vegetables. A
basket of eggs sit on the icebox
and a sack of potatoes lie on the
shelf. There's also a rolling pin
and of course a bowl filled with
flour to bake. My cake is done
and sitting on the stove ready for
tonight’s dessert after dinner. I
bought little glass jars and filled
them with spices from my kitchen
which is sitting on the stove.
Every kitchen has to have a bowl
of fruit which is on the table. I
couldn’t resist buying the barrel
of apples when I saw them – just
perfect for the floor in a real
home kitchen. Above the sink is
a pot rack filled with my copper
pots. The tea pot is on the stove
ready to boil water .
This is one of my favorite rooms in the house. My husband put a gray slate floor down to give the room an outdoor look. I bought a light
blue/grayish wallpaper to blend in with the slate. I wanted a formal outdoor look to the Conservatory and what I pictured was a sitting room filled
with joy. Plants, flowers and a room where family and friends want to relax to read or sing along side the piano. I filled the little flower pots on the
plant stand with miniature flowers. Of course I couldn't resist my little dog who likes to be naughty now and then. He knocked over one of my
plants and broke it.
The formal Dining Room sits behind the Kitchen wall. I decided to use blue Victorian wallpaper on the walls. I don’t know why I choose the
color but I really like it now that it’s up. Above the chandelier a ceiling plate was added to give a little extra touch of class. I made the
placemats that are under the dishes out of scrapbook paper. It has little gold specs in it to match the silverware and dishes I bought. I decided
the dining room table was the best place to display my turkey that just came out of the oven. Looking at the dining room you can see other little
things I’ve added.
The grandfather clock (below) was added Christmas 2007 as a gift for me from Steve. It includes at actual working time
piece.
